One of my favorite things about being a Raleigh Wedding Photographer would have to be all of the amazing people I meet and the big life moments I get to capture for them. This was a time when I truly felt so blessed to be a photographer…because who doesn’t love a surprise proposal?!
Trevor reached out to me about a month before this shoot to tell me he wanted to propose to his girlfriend, Hannah. He knew he wanted a photographer there, he just needed help coming up with a plan. I was running a giveaway at the time so we came up with a plan to make Hannah think she won the photoshoot giveaway. Little did she know, Trevor was planning on proposing to her all along!
I immediately reached out to Hannah to let her know she won the giveaway. She was so excited and we began picking out the location together. She decided on Dorthea Dix Park in Raleigh, NC. This park is special because her and Trevor go there often and there is a view of the Raleigh skyline (talk about romantic!)
Once the location was settled, I called Trevor to let him know the plan was in motion. We came up with a plan which included a “code phrase” so Trevor knew when to pop the big question! During the session, I told Trevor to “face Hannah, hold her hands, and tell her how much you love her.” Once we got out into the big open field which overlooked the skyline, I said the code phrase, he got down on one knee, and of course she said yes!
Her reaction was perfect! She said she truly was surprised, so I take that as a success in my book! 🙂 Check out the photos below and head to my Instagram so you can see her reaction with video!
